Sustainability and innovation in the 22@ district

Hilton Diagonal Mar Barcelona has announced an ambitious comprehensive renovation program under the ‘Mediterranean Beyond the Ordinary’ concept. The project, alongside BNP Paribas Asset Management Alts, will transform the property into an experiential space focused on sustainability, high-end gastronomy, and the premium business travel segment.

Strategic transformation for the luxury segment

Barcelona, 03/03/26
The renovation of Hilton Diagonal Mar is a response to a joint strategy aimed at strengthening the property’s position in the luxury and lifestyle sectors. Supported by BNP Paribas Asset Management Alts, the hotel will adopt a new visual and operational identity focused on user experience and facility modernization.

This collaboration seeks to adapt the asset to the demands of an increasingly sophisticated international market, integrating state-of-the-art energy efficiency systems. The commitment to sustainability is realized through the achievement and reinforcement of prestigious environmental certifications such as Biosphere and BREEAM, aligning with global responsible tourism trends currently demanded by major operators and corporate clients within the global hospitality industry.

Gourmet excellence and upgraded MICE facilities

A fundamental pillar of this new era is the commitment to the high-level HoReCa sector. Next June, MÖN will open, a new gastronomic space led by Michelin-starred chef Artur Martínez.

This opening aims to establish the hotel as a culinary landmark within the 22@ district, attracting both local patrons and corporate travelers. Simultaneously, the project includes a deep renovation of event areas, including the ballroom and meeting rooms. These improvements are designed to meet the needs of future event organizers, offering versatile spaces that combine cutting-edge technology with a design inspired by Barcelona’s Mediterranean character, ensuring a competitive edge in the business meetings and incentives market.

Execution timeline and asset enhancement

The renovation process will be executed in phases until 2027 to avoid disrupting the hotel’s daily operations. Following the redesign of guest rooms and the executive lounge, the project will focus on the lobby and the creation of new suites with terraces on the upper floors.

In later stages, the leisure and dining offer will expand with the renovation of the pool club under the Puro Beach brand and the opening of a new rooftop restaurant and bar. According to management, this transformation is a decisive step toward integrating the hotel into the Poblenou innovation ecosystem, ensuring the establishment evolves alongside the city and remains a preferred choice for premium business travelers.
